Are you looking for a room, but don’t know where to start? Student services will help you on your way.
For international students in Geel and Mechelen we advise you to limit your search to so called 'Topkot' rooms to prevent issues with your residence permit.
The rooms offered on this database are, according to our information, in order.* We therefore recommend that you limit your search to this database.
Before you start searching for a room, it is important to determine what it is you want. Therefore it is wise to make a list for yourself to see what type of room will best fit your needs.

From 1 January, Flanders will introduce the new Kotlabel, a quality label that assesses student rooms for fire safety, quality and planning permission. The label aims to give students and parents more certainty about the state of the rented property while encouraging landlords to make improvements.
Each city or municipality in Flanders decides for itself whether to introduce the Kotlabel. This means that, for the time being, its application may vary depending on the location.
Although the label will officially be introduced on 1 January, its practical implementation is still in full development. Preparations for entering the Flemish system are still in full swing and the Flemish government is working on a portal through which landlords will be able to apply for a Kotlabel in the future and a website through which students can check an address or property.
The old top kot labels already issued will continue to apply but in the future the new Flemish kot label will apply.
More details will become clear in the coming months as municipalities further develop their policies.
If you are looking for a kot, start with our database, it will give you the best assurance of a quality kot today and in the future.
Whoever rents a room has to finish a lot of paper work. If you don’t want to end up with unpleasant surprises in the course of your rental period, it is important to stay alert when filling in your contract!
